I have loved the natural world all my life and having owned and run my own nursery I retrained in Further Education in the 1990's and have very much enjoyed teaching many students of all ages. My teaching strongly supports the principles of sustainable and organic growing, preserving the natural environment and encouraging wildlife. I have developed my Diploma in Horticulture from the more traditional Royal Horticultural Society and National Certificate qualifications, but as my course is non-accredited I have been able to expand the range of topics covered and am always happy to include further relevant topics which students may request, making my Diploma very flexible. I try to create a relaxed environment where you can gain information and have an enjoyable experience. My Diploma in Horticulture is run as 3 recorded Classes, with fortnightly live Q&A; sessions with me as the course tutor. Having completed my MA in Garden History, I set up a Foundation Degree in conjunction with the University of the West of England and from this have developed and now run a Garden History course at Burrow Farm Gardens in Axminster in Devon in the UK. I am a Fellow of the Linnean Society.
