When I first qualified as a psychotherapist I was better placed than most to start my own private practice. I had been self employed before, I had the business knowledge and skills. But still I struggled. I have become fascinated with how the process of creating our own practices is an ideal way of continuing our journeys of self development. Evry aspect of self employment provides opportunities to meet our resistance and our shadows, to learn and grow, and this in turn, helps us to help our clients. That process continues for me, and in addition, I work with other therapists and coaches who struggle with the same issues. I like this subject so much that I wrote a book about it. A Chartered Accountant by original training, I worked in that field for 30 years, before leaving to train as a psychotherapist. But all that time I was dabbling in personal development on the side. For the last 12 years, I have worked with clients in private practice in Co Kildare, Ireland. I am also an accredited supervisor.
