Introduction
Mighon McLaughlin said, "A Successful Marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person." I want to let you know things every man should provide for his woman and things that will help you to make a successful marriage. Things that will make you function as a superhero (The head of the family). Things that will make your wife and children be proud of you. Something that will take you to get where your wife will love you, not because she has to love you, but she will love and admire you because you are lovable and admirable. Things that will make you enjoy your husband or your wife. Things that will make you enjoy your marriage. Even if you are not married yet, the same thing applies to you; you can start now. If you are already married, it is not too late to start up or make changes. A writer once said, “The greatest marriage is not when the perfect couple comes together, but when the imperfect couple learns how to enjoy their differences.” Let me now say, a successful marriage is not that which never allows for change and growth in the lovers and in the way they express their love.
We understand that marriage is not about age alone but also about finding the right person. One has to find the best companionship in one’s better half. This companionship is all about being mature in the mind, being able to treat each other with mutual respect, being God-fearing, and being able to withstand each other’s strengths and weaknesses in good and bad times.
We should understand that a successful marriage is not by luck, even when God’s grace (favor) is involved. This goes to show that the journey of a great marriage starts with and/or from you. A writer said: "The only journey is the one within." The most important aspect of the marital journey is you to discover yourself and your purpose in life.
Discovering yourself and your life purpose will give you foresight, insight, hindsight, and oversight on how to settle down for the right choice. Aristotle said: "Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom."
The most successful married people I know discovered themselves and their purposes before marriage. Discovering yourself and your purpose is the first step everyone should take before choosing a life partner. This is what How to Make a Successful Marriage tries to teach and entertain us with. T.S Eliot said: "We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time."
