The Bridge is an online murder mystery game set around the iconic Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam, the Netherlands (Europe), where something really bad happened last night.
The Bridge is categorized as a serious game, and in this particular case, it is meticulously crafted around two core themes: data-driven work and collaboration. This serious game integrates these themes into 7 learning objectives for data-driven work and 7 for teamwork.
Your objective is to team up and solve a murder within the challenging time limit of just one hour.
The Bridge is a game where 4 players investigate a murder online, regardless of their physical location. They must identify the correct suspect within an hour. The game's software assigns data and tasks to each player, requiring effective collaboration. This unique blend of teamwork and data-driven problem-solving fosters critical skills for real-world scenarios.
You play the game through a URL sent to you. By launching the URL, you initiate the game. After your team has logged in, you meet the commissioner who has been called back from vacation (due to the murder) and isn't in the best of moods.
Then finally, you dive into the case. You meet witnesses, discover pieces of evidence, tapes, fingerprints, and surveillance footage, and gradually, you start closing in on the suspect, all while the clock is ticking away.
And ultimately, you proceed to make an arrest, where you will apprehend (hopefully) the right suspect.
In conclusion, players will enjoy an engaging introduction to data-driven work, allowing for a seamless transition to your next steps, whether it be starting your project or training module.
Lastly, you can also play the game in parallel, for instance, with 20, 50, and 200 teams simultaneously. What's exciting about this is that it adds a competitive element. The game keeps track, per team, of various scores related to how you handle your data and how well teamwork unfolds.
