Background info about this course

On September 20, 2022, Indonesia’s parliament ratified the Personal Data Protection Act (the “Act”). The Act is the first comprehensive data protection law to be enacted in Indonesia and will come into effect on a date set by the Minister of State Secretariat. Organizations subject to the Act will have two years to come into compliance with the Act’s requirements.

Indonesia’s first data protection law, known as the Personal Data Protection Law, has been closely based on the European Union‘s General Data Protection Regulations (EU GDPR). The new law clearly states the types of the legal basis for obtaining and processing personal data and sets out strict criminal and administrative sanctions for those that break the provisions under the law. These include corporate fines of up to two percent of a company’s annual revenue.

After passing the national privacy law exam, candidates will be issued a GADPPRO Academy Certificate of Completion (CoC) plus a Certificate of Registration (CoR) in the EU Register of Data Protection Professionals (EU-RDPP)
