This Carrizo Plain National Monument is one of the least-visited parks in Southern California and is located between Bakersfield and San Luis Obispo. With all the rains we had this year, we should have a spectacular spring bloom - though no guarantees. You can drive up for the day if you choose or spend the night with us in Taft, then drive less than an hour to shoot images at sunrise and sunset. The current date is March 23rd and 24, but is subject to when the bloom actually happens. If interested, please sign up. There will be a Zoom meeting on March 18 for the group to work out the carpool and timing details.
By attending a Channel Islands Professional Photographers Association (CIPPA) event, you acknowledge that some activities, such as outings, workshops, or safaris, may involve physical exertion, including climbing or long walks. Please consider any personal health concerns before registering. Participants agree to hold CIPPA and the Event Coordinator harmless for any injuries, death, or loss of property (including camera equipment) that may occur during the event.
Some of the route through the park is on unpaved roads, so make sure you have a spare with air, and your car is in good condition. There are very few facilities, so bring water, food for lunch, and snacks, as well as a hat and sunscreen.
