Learn from the national team, to regional leaders, and local campuses, narrative framing, and successful campaign design to create a distributive organizing structure through capacity-building training for Nuclear Disarmament USA.
There are 3 online sessions of 45 minutes each for up to 25 students with SND.
Session 1 focuses on distributive organizing with an emphasis on organizing structures, volunteer coordination, and job descriptions for each level of the organization. Students will begin work on the job descriptions in three groups and finish these for the next session.
Session 2 focuses on story-based strategy and narrative framing. We will identify the narrative frame of the nuclear industry and politicians who support it, clarify the false assumptions, and then create a narrative for nuclear disarmament that will resonate with students and the general public.
Session 3 focuses on campaign design, planning, and implementation with an emphasis on power mapping, using the social barometer, and Marianne's 5 steps to campaign design. Students will begin developing campaigns to engage students from existing and new chapters of SND.
Requirements
Students in this capacity-building must be active with SND in the USA.
Students will preferably commit to attending all 3 sessions, completing the "homework", and implementing the strategies in the training.
Students will be familiar with using Zoom, including breakout groups, using Google Shared Drive, and reading online guides and handouts contained on the shared drive.
