About the Class

(Length: 4 hours)

The attendee of the class will become familiar with the dangers associated with entering into and working safely in an H2S environment. The key objective is to educate the participant about the physical and chemical properties, toxicity, concentration levels, personal protective equipment use, detection measures, rescue, and first aid.

The attendee will be required to successfully complete a written evaluation of the information presented during this training session in accordance with the ANSI Z390.1-2017 Standard.

Who should take this live class?

This course is designed for personnel with "hands-on" work on and around equipment that may be exposed to an H2S environment. Common locations are oil and gas facilities, rigs, sewer systems, refineries, gas plants, landfills, wastewater treatment plants, and compressor stations.

The successful participant will receive a wallet-sized, laminated H2S Certification Card valid for a period of one year.

Requirements

By registering for this distance-learning class you have agreed to the following:

  • You have access to a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam.
  • You agree to share your video for the duration of the training.
  • Agree to test the video conferencing link 30 minutes prior to class by clicking on the link above to verify the audio and video work.
  • Access the training by desktop or laptop.
  • Smartphones are not acceptable.
  • Be sure the background shown during the video conferencing is appropriate.
  • Have access to a private, quiet, well-lit workspace for training.
  • In the event that multiple people will be attending training in the same room, it is recommended they follow CDC social distancing recommendations and make sure the camera shows all. students clearly so the PEC Instructor can observe their actions.
  • Have reliable internet access. Satellite internet is not recommended.
  • Testing will be via digital test. Smartphones are acceptable for testing but not for class attendance.
