For many people, Vacation Home/Short-Term Rental (STR) management seems to be as simple as listing a home for rent to guests for short stays on a reservation site like Airbnb or Vrbo. But STR is much more complicated than a simple listing. And it is affecting other industries and local communities. STR requires planning, good business management, clear communication, and appropriate monitoring of each guest's stay. There are effective tools, systems, and best practices, though, which we review within this class.

STR is an emerging industry, which means it is still in a state of disruption and rapid change. Professionals wanting to work within this industry and even people just marginally affected by it, like realtors, vendors, and public officials, need to understand STR.

Registered students receive a copy of the acclaimed e-textbook, Vacation Rental Management 411, which professionals say they use as an ongoing resource for questions about STR management.

Las Vegas is a great destination---and this seminar is a chance to enjoy a trip here. Students can attend in person (with limited seating, so please reserve early). Our host may even provide lunch (we'll offer more details in the registration email). We also have a ZOOM option for students who can't attend in person.

Because the seminar is in Las Vegas, we will also share a detailed guide about the current STR regulations for the Cities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, and the Unincorporated Clark County, all affected by the Nevada STR law, AB363. This course qualifies for 3 General Nevada Real Estate CE through NRED (CE.6583000-RE).

Some cities are requiring this seminar (but most require the more comprehensive 2-day STR Certification Course) for their STR business license applicants. It's important to note that this seminar is not the full STR Certification Course. (There are live 2-day STR Certification course sessions scheduled in March and April, and an online course option is always available. For details, see www.strcertification.com).

Requirements

  • There are no educational prerequisites for this seminar.
  • Seating is limited, so registrants need to RSVP as soon as possible to reserve a seat. Otherwise, attendance will be through ZOOM.
  • Students wishing RE CE must actively participate in the entire class session and pass a short quiz for CE consideration.
  • To be fair to all potential students, there will be no refund for cancellations or no-shows within three days of the class date. There is a $20 processing fee for qualifying cancellations or changes.
