DESCRIPTION: Many people advise pregnant individuals not to start any activity or exercise that they didn&rsquo;t do before pregnancy. To some extent I agree, now is not the time to learn how to figure skate but if you have never exercised before, now might be a good time to start doing so, and here is why. Weightlifting is inherently built into pregnancy and postpartum. You are carrying around more weight today than you were a week ago and tomorrow that will increase even more. Then once that baby comes out, you are lifting, carrying, rocking, and bouncing that kid who also continues to grow and grow. In essence, you are already weightlifting right now so you might as well train to do so properly and effectively. Then there is labor and delivery. If you haven&rsquo;t done any cardio exercise before now, you will be doing one of the most impressive endurance cardio events that exist. So, you might as well start training for that as well. Have I convinced you yet?
