DESCRIPTION: I used to think that postpartum could be easier and smoother if people were adequately educated and informed during pregnancy, I have since witnessed otherwise. First off, there is a lot to keep track of during pregnancy and prepare for labor and delivery. Shoot, I&rsquo;m including an entire module on it within a postpartum program. Even if you could retain it all, the transition from pregnant to a parent literally takes place in a moment&rsquo;s time. In that minute, your whole universe changes and there is no way to be prepared for that. There is also a brick wall inherently built into this transition. Between the hormonal swing, sleep shift, and physical throw down, there is no avoiding running face-first into this wall. So expect the wall. Expect your transition into parenthood to be like nothing else you have ever experienced before. It&rsquo;s going to be hard and there is nothing you can do to make it not that way.
