So, in this lecture, we're going to look at the present perfect simple. Okay, so perfect tenses are something that you need to understand what is a perfect tense? Okay? We'll look at that a bit later. So how to form the tense? You use by subject with have been use have or has and the past participle been is the past participle of the verb to be.
So I have been, you have been, he she has been, we have been, they have been in the negative then we make the have negative here, so I haven't been. You haven't been. He hasn't been? We haven't been? They haven't been. Okay and then questions, we change the subject.
With and the auxiliary which is have. So have I been? Have you been? Has he she been? Have we been? Have they been?
Okay? And most important about this tense is when we use the tense okay? So sometimes we use it for experiences in your life, okay? I have been to Italy in my life. I have eaten pizza in Italy, okay, these are experiences in my life and also for things that happened in the past and continue in the present. Okay, so that could be where you live, for example, I have lived in Ireland for two years.
Okay. You started in Ireland two years ago, but now, it's still true. You still live in Ireland now. So there's this connection with the past. And the present and that's a very important idea in the present perfect. Okay, there's some connection with the past and the present.
Look at this example. I have played guitar for 15 years. Okay, that means I started 15 years ago, but now I play I still play guitar. So and that's why we use the present perfect. We also use it for very recent past. Like I have just made some coffee, okay, just means like one or two minutes ago.
And this is another good example right? And the coffee is is hot, right? So there's some relationship with the present. And if you think about it, then there is a relationship. Okay, I hope that helps. And, and I hope you enjoy the course.
And we'll talk again soon
