DESCRIPTION:

Altitude sickness
Altitude sickness can affect anyone - young, old, fit, unfit, previous sufferers, first-time sufferers - there is no formula.
Always ascend with clients slowly, drink water regularly in small sips, and maintain a slow, steady walking pace.Watch out for headaches, nausea, lack of coordination, or vomiting- these could be signs of severe mountain sickness which in turn, left untreated (by descending and resting) can lead to pulmonary or even cerebral edema. This serious condition is characterized by rapid heart rate, fever, blue tongue, and dry cough with froth. Watch out for incoherent, aggressive, or impulsive behavior. If this occurs give oxygen, sit the patient up, descend immediately, and call for an ambulance.
