DESCRIPTION:

Golden Rules For Making Your Narration Interesting

Personalize your information if possible - e.g. 'this is my favorite part of the city', 'this is where I first went canoeing' but explain why.
Don't always talk about yourself. It's boring sometimes for others. If they ask you questions about yourself (which they will) answer them. Over time your rapport will build, so no need to keep going on about yourself.
Don't overload your talk with dates, facts, and figures. Throw in one or two to show that you know your topic, but keep it general.
Vary your pace. Use pauses, speed up to create enthusiasm, slow down for important information.
Vary your intonation - let your voice rise and fall (naturally, not theatrically).
Never give a talk late at night or very early in the morning- they won't listen if they're tired and you'll just get more questions later.
Speak clearly and at a normal speed.
Use eye to eye contact. Look happy, but don't put on a fixed smile.
