Scenario E
You have advised your group to leave all documents, tickets, and valuables in the hotel safe. Despite constant reminders (this is a particularly poor country), a couple decide to go to the beach and take their passports with them. While swimming they leave their bag on the beach, as there appears to be no one else around. When they come out of the sea their bag has been opened and their passports stolen.
You know that you must get emergency passports issued as soon as possible as the group flies home in four days' time. However, you are a long way from the capital and there are no photographers nearby, nor any branches of mail forwarding agencies.
What do you do?
First, call the British Embassy and ask for instructions. Then if possible call your tour operator office and inform them. They may be able to give you further instructions.
