Hassle-free horse riding- follow these guidelines and have your group get the most from this activity:

Some adventure tours include the opportunity to go horse-riding. Check company policy, as some insurance companies don't cover this activity
If your group members say their insurance permits horse riding, make sure you see the relevant section in their documents
Check out the reputation and qualifications of anyone who organizes horse riding trips. They should be approved by the relevant body in the country concerned - otherwise, any insurance could be void
Ask the group what their experience is - it's your duty as a group leader to check that participants have the experience necessary to handle a horse. Responsible riders will expect this of you
If the riders are all beginners, tell the lead rider to walk only, perhaps teaching a rising trot en route for those confident enough to try. Most riding school horses are docile but check with the lead rider
