What to do About Missing Bags

If any bags are missing after an International or Domestic flight:


Ask the client to go back into the baggage retrieval hall (this may not be possible) and check the area surrounding the luggage carousel - people sometimes lift the wrong bags off and leave them to one side of the belt
Go immediately to the airline desk to report it
You'll need the 'bag tags' - the labels check-in will have attached to passports, boarding passes (not the part you show to the cabin crew) or internet receipts
It is vital to keep bag tags as they are the only way lost bags can be traced!
The traveler will be shown some pictures of luggage and asked to pick out the nearest equivalent and/or to describe the bag
Once a report has been filed keep the copy safe and make a note of the number to call to check on progress finding the bag
Call the number after 48 hours
