Tricky Situations made easy - how you can run a safe and fun tour
Use of alcohol - It is your responsibility to ensure that no one gets so drunk that they endanger themselves or others. Clients should know you won't tolerate excessive drinking and you must enforce this. If it becomes a problem you must remove them from the tour. This recourse is very effective in preventing others. On training trips for work, some Tour Operators companies strictly forbid drinking alcohol while on training.
Use of drugs - You cannot allow the recreational use of any drugs - as with alcohol, the safety of everyone in the group is your responsibility, even if someone wants to take risks. You cannot condone this. Tour leaders have been sued for allowing clients to smoke substances to which they have eventually become addicted. Beware of departing Amsterdam with any kind of drugs. Asian countries have the death penalty in some instances.
