Knowing the destination;Many tour companies recruit local agents to arrange accommodation and transport at destinations. This may often include providing a local guide to accompany the group on location, meet and greet at the airport and ensure departure procedures run efficiently. This is usually a great advantage for the tour director (although it can entail other challenges, refer to 'Dealing With Local Guides' section).Even if you have a guide to accompany you, the tour leader still needs to have basic information at hand to prepare the group for what they can expect in the area.
