The tour operating company is legally responsible for everything that happens on the tour - even if it is outside their control. As the tour leader, you are acting as the tour company's representative
If it can be proved that the tour operating company is negligent they may have to pay compensation of up to three times the value of the tour.
It is your duty to be familiar with the booking conditions in the brochure. You should not, however, interpret them for passengers.
Do not enter into a discussion about what constitutes a reasonable complaint. Treat all complaints seriously, and don't argue with clients. This can be a very tricky part of the job. Aim to settle disagreements on tour, but never make promises on behalf of the company, nor express your personal opinion as to the seriousness of the complaint
