DESCRIPTION:
No nonsense advice for tour guides about solo travellers

Make sure you spend time with everyone in your group, not just the people you get on well with.
As soon as you receive the tour manifest or passenger list, think about who to room with who. Be careful not to room members of the opposite sex unless they are traveling together. (Even then it's worth asking if they want to share or not - check what your employer's policy is)
People travel solo for a variety of reasons
The person who seeks to recover from a broken relationship or trauma has different needs from someone who is lonely and wants to meet people on holiday
Some may want to have some quiet time to contemplate where they are in life; others could be adventure seekers out to do and see as much as possible
Be sensitive to everyone's needs. Ask - gently - what they want from this holiday
You are not expected to be a counsellor, nor a friend - remember, you are at work
Try to strike a balance between being accessible...
