Cultural Differences In Communication

In Anglo Saxon culture it is usual for speaker B to interrupt speaker A towards the end of speaker A's communication, overlapping by a few seconds. But in Latin cultures, this interruption will happen much earlier, so that both are speaking at once for several seconds.
However in Oriental cultures, it is considered rude to interrupt, so speaker B will wait for several seconds before responding to speaker A. This way s/he conveys that s/he is considering what speaker A has said, and is spending time thinking about it. Anything less would be insulting.

This seemingly trivial detail is vital when communicating with Oriental colleagues; that 'uncomfortable' silence we Westerners experience is actually very flattering seen from a different perspective!
Here are a couple more differences in communication styles:

Standing with folded arms or hands in pockets is considered very rude in Indonesia, as is pointing in China
