Scenario G
The night before you are about to begin a five-day hiking tour, one of your group is suffering from severe back pain after carrying her luggage from the baggage conveyor to the tour bus. She can barely stand and is in a lot of pain.
What do you do?
Ask her to sign the discharge form, call her airline and arrange for her to change her flight home in order to return early. Travel insurance will need medical evidence to prove she was indeed unable to hike due to medical reasons. Send them to the hospital or Medical Centre for medical reports. Book a taxi and be sure to explain that she will need assistance. If you can, help her repack her bag and take it down to the hotel foyer for her when her taxi arrives. Do not give her any medication, unless Dr states otherwise. Be sure to include the incident in your tour report but in any case, contact head office to inform them of your action
