Health issues and foods to watch out for:

Ice cream - A bad batch of ice cream is notorious in countries where freezing may not be efficient due to poor electricity supply or owners turning off the freezers to conserve money.
Salads - Avoid anything that may have been washed in untreated water, even tap water. Avoid anything washed in a river.
Buffets - We would rather eat freshly cooked food from a street stall, rather than eating food which has been lying around on a table all day - possibly in warm temperatures. A tip is to visit a stall that is very busy - this can mean that they are constantly cooking fresh food.
Food temperature - Make sure that everything is thoroughly cooked and do not risk eating anything 'warm' if its meant to be a hot dish.
Shellfish - avoid if in doubt: If it looks stale or underdone, leaves it. Peel shellfish yourself if possible. Do not eat any Fish Raw unless you're sure of the source.
