DESCRIPTION:

In any situation, the victim most likely to be in real danger is the one who is the quietest, lying still. Anyone who can shout and wave their arms around is most likely not in as much immediate danger as someone who may be unconscious or weak from severe bleeding. As well as severe bleeding, other danger signs are:

Severe pain anywhere
Severe distress
A person looks very unwell
Chest pain, especially if in the center of the chest or when breathing
Shortness of breath
High fever, especially with chills or shivers
Fainting spells or blackouts
Recurrent falls without an obvious cause
Fits or seizures
Vomiting which is persistent especially with the inability to keep down fluids
Diarrhea which is severe, especially if accompanied by vomiting
Bizarre behavior, unintelligible speech
Confusion - ask if they know you, where they are or what day it is

If there are 2 or more of these signs and symptoms, this is more likely to indicate serious illness.
It is your responsibility to look...
