DESCRIPTION: In teaching this important skill, a number of stages have been earmarked for learners to pass through which will make the attainment of this skill easy. convenient and impactful on the learner. These stages are as itemized below:

Writing in the air
Writing on the board
Writing using the sound groves or sand tray
Learning how to hold a pencil
Writing on paper.

A careful study of the stages above will show that by the time a learner goes through stages 1 to 4 for a particular sound, he would have been used to the steps involved in writing such sound that writing on paper becomes an easy task. There will be no need to be holding the hand of such a pupil by the teacher before he can write.
