DESCRIPTION:
Here are some back-pocket tips for working with new or novice actors:

Minimize the dialogue
Lots of acting hard acting
Make the role fit the actor, don't make the actors fit the role
Humour translates easier on-screen than drama. If your actors can’t really act, give them a humorous role.
Don’t ask too much of them if they don't have experience

When you are starting out you may not have access to trained actors, you will be accessing your friends and family to make cameos in your film. To maximize their performance my hacks above should help you work out ways to bring a character to life without giving away that the actor is new to the game.
