Finding the right project

Typically to make a movie (short film or feature film) the idea and the process live in your life for a minimum of one year. 
This is the accumulation of pre-production, production, post-production, and, of course, distribution. Each section can takes months to do. 
You need to be prepared for that relationship. Ask yourself, will I still love this project in a year? Does this story align with my interests? 


Directing skill:
You need to be able to see the film in your head while reading the script even if the film is fuzzy. If you can't see the movie and the ideas don't jive, forget about it and move on to another project.
