The 4 steps to being a good leader
Leadership is tough, it comes with a lot of uncomfortable interactions with people that you may care very deeply about and force you to make tough choices that no one else wants to.
1. Look
Take in your surroundings and try to see the bigger picture before making any choices about something. Your emotions will narrow your viewpoint so try to act objectively and take in “the forest” before walking through “the trees.”
2. Listen
Your team is there for a reason and they are super valuable, before exerting your opinion - listen to what they have to say. It is very likely that they are much closer to a potential problem that you are trying to solve than you are. Listen to their concerns and areas they wish you as their leader can improve when it comes to communicating with them. Be open to their criticism and make sure they feel heard.
3. Delegate and Follow-up
Good leaders aren’t great doers, they are great delegators....
