Hello, this is Rob from Rob coven.com. Now, blogging is not a quick fix solution. So you need to get the blogging habits. You need to be doing it regularly over a significant period of time. So you need to develop a habit to do this. For me, it's quite easy.
I make sure I write a blog post every weekend and publish it on a Monday afternoon. It's good to publish at the same time of the week, like a soap opera, it helps to build a regular audience. An excellent way to get into the blogging habit is to show yourself that you're doing the right thing. Okay, so here is Google Analytics. And this is my analytics from the last month now this is a bit of a crazy month as there's been Christmas and other seasonal variations in it. But Google Analytics is Great when you're first starting out, because you'll see more and more people coming to the website.
As you create more and more content here on audience, you can find out a bit about the people who are coming to your site where they live, geographically, etc. On acquisition, you can see the source of the traffic. So you'll see here most of my traffic comes from Google. That's direct that's straight to the sites. And we don't really know where that's come from. There's other search engines like Yahoo, and Bing, other social sites like StumbleUpon, and Twitter, as well as other sites that are referring traffic to me.
And if you scroll down to campaigns, organic keywords, this is really interesting because this is where you see what people actually type into Google in order to find your site. And if you go down here, you can see as many rows as you wish. Unfortunately, you'll see that Google actually hides most of this information away from us. But even so after a few days, you will get a good idea of the keywords that you're ranking for, and the keywords that people are typing in to find your content. And you can get some really great ideas about content here. For example, here how to make my website responsive.
Well, I have an article about responsive websites. But it's not really about how to make website responsive, but you could imagine that would be a pretty popular keyword term. And if I'm getting traffic from that, that means that I'm ranking pretty well for that term. And if I write an article, I'll probably get even more traffic for that term. So if that was something I wanted to write about, and something that I thought my audience would be interested in, then that would be a pretty good idea for me otherwise Why's it can just confirm that you're doing the right thing. For example, social media HTML buttons, I have written an article with the keywords social media, HTML buttons in the title.
And therefore this shows me that I'm doing something right. And that it's right to write specific titles for blog posts. Remember, I told you to write specific titles for blog posts, which really pull in targeted traffic. So you can spend a lot more time on Google Analytics, just down here at the bottom is quite important, because there's things to do with how many pages your visitors view, how much time they spend on certain pages, and all sorts of statistics like that, which are really important to understanding where your site is going right and where your site is going wrong. But the main thing is to keep an eye on it. See it going in the right direction.
In other words, see more and more visitors coming each week and each month. And if you see that, then you know you're doing something right. And it will incentivize you to carry on. And that's the way you have to be with blogging. You have to carry on and be consistent and keep on putting the content out there. So remember, one visitor could be that guy that gives you 10s of thousands of dollars worth of business, or even a person who could be a long term business partner.
So if you're just starting out, or you think you have an unpopular blog, just keep at it. Remember the soap opera every week. Keep on putting out content regularly.
