The content of a policy explains in detail what is covered and to what extent. If the policy does not include a specific peril or threat, then a loss caused by that peril will not be covered. For example, if the property is located in Florida, where hurricanes are prevalent, but a policy does not include coverage for hurricanes, then the homeowner will be responsible for repairing damage to the home caused by a hurricane. The same is true for mold. Many homeowners&rsquo; policies specifically exclude coverage for mold. Therefore, if mold is discovered in the home, the insurance policy will not cover the cost of remediating the mold or for the loss of the use of the home while the mold is being remediated.
