Hello, and welcome back to the Roja media video tutorials. In this video, we are going to get introduced to another animation principle. This is called anticipation. So let's move ahead with the video, we have an example that we are going to watch. You don't have to treat this video as an assignment, but have to just observe and understand what this basic principle is. So, let's start to know the importance of the principle of anticipation.

Here we have a character standing with a football in our first pose. Now, the second pose shows the character kicking the football. See the action when we use only the first and last poses. Now, let's see what happens when we add an anticipation pose to the action. In the anticipation pose will see that the character's leg is held up and moves backward or in the opposite direction to the action and so, this acts as a preparation before the action. This backward motion is anticipation.

For every action, there is one preparatory action, which is called as anticipation. Observe the effect of the action after adding the anticipation pose. In this file, we are using only the key poses in order to understand the importance of anticipation before any action, so, we do not have proper timing or the in between poses for the complete action. This video was created only to introduce you to the principle of anticipation and make you understand the importance of anticipation pose. So, for effective output, you can adjust the timing and add more in between poses in your project files. A properly timed anticipation can enhance the action Hear, the character takes his leg backwards.

That is, anticipates to build up the energy to swing the leg and hit the football. Does anticipation add realism to the action. So, start with your own file and create any action along with its anticipation bowls. In this assignment, you will go through a hand action with an anticipation pose. You can observe and study this basic principle with the help of this video tutorial. Later on, you can apply it to any other animated action of yours.

Here's a hand ready with us on the stage, which will be pointing to the object. Let's get inside and check out the first and last pose. First pose is a normal pose. And on the last key, the hand is pointing. If you just play the first and the last key, you will realize that there is something missing in action. Now, let's see what that missing element is.

Now let us add the anticipation pose. Now, play these three key poses including anticipation pose, and see the difference. anticipation means the movement which prepares the audience for an action the character is about to perform. Check the movement playing first pose, anticipation pose, and last pose. For better movement. We have already added two of the in between drawings between the anticipation and the last key pose.

You have to keep the audience keen on to create the in betweens. You can add as many in betweens as you need for that particular action you might be working on. anticipation is adding realism to the action. anticipation is not only used in animation, but you will notice that it is used in live action and especially in theater So, go ahead and create some of your own files, practicing this important principle of animation.
