DESCRIPTION:
Pacing
Verbal pacing describes what must be present in the client’s experience:

Feel the air on your skin
Be aware of the ground beneath you
Acknowledging any physiological shifts

Non-verbal pacing responds to the unconscious movements of the client(mirroring and matching)

Talking as the client breathes out and pausing as they breathe in.
Matching body posture
Matching voice tempo and volume

Pacing establishes rapport
Leading
Leading takes the client from where they are to where you want them to go. To smoothly lead a client, the hypnotist must use a transitional statement, followed by a leading statement, being “Artfully vague and permissive.”
“And you may even imagine (Transition) a bright, warm sun shining down on your body, relaxing you even more" (leading)
You can only lead after good rapport has been established
Smooth transitional phrases

"and You may notice....”
“I wonder if you could....”
“In a moment you may....”
“It is possible that....”
