Noticing Hooks is a great way to help teachers and students handle difficult and challenging moments in the classroom. Hooks show up all the time. We go through our day and then some unwanted experience shows up. It could a memory of a difficult conversation or the frustration that occurs when we are in challenging or stressful situations. Hooks invite us to spend more time paying attention to the unwanted feeling or experience and less time moving toward what matters to us. When we are hooked we are less flexible and struggle more with what is hooking us. Less energy is available to move forward and more is devoted to trying to get rid of the hook.

The same is true for students. Learning to notice hooks is a game-changer for all of us. We learn that we can't eliminate hooks but that we can learn to live with them. Make sure you download the pdf and sample matrix with the hooks.
