DESCRIPTION: If you are needing an endorphin high, Tabata is your answer.
Tabatas are the best means of getting your heart rate up in a short period of time and getting the endorphin high of a cardio workout, without pushing your body over what it is capable of doing with quality. Below is a video of a handful of movements I would recommend for a Tabata but you can really choose whatever you want. Just make sure it is a movement that your body feels good in and that you can maintain a level of quality throughout the whole Tabata. Start with bodyweight, double-sided movements. Progress to weight, then to single-leg, and finally to impact. You can do the entire Tabata as one movement, alternate between two, or mix in several. A Tabata is defined as 20 sec on, 10 sec off repeated 8 times. There are several Tabata timer apps that you can download which help it easy to keep track. Remember, no symptoms, no pain.
