DESCRIPTION: I am going to walk you through how to assess the strength of your pelvic floor. We will start externally and then do it internally. You will want to have clean hands, lube, a towel, and a hand mirror or a mirror that you position yourself in front of to view your vagina.
For the external assessment, you want to be able to see your vagina. Once visible, you want to take a big inhale, and then on your exhale perform your kegel. Remember, the kegel is made up of both a squeeze and a lift to get all three layers. You are looking to see how far up you can lift your pelvic floor up and you are looking to see if you are getting both the back and the front of your pelvic floor.
For the internal assessment, make sure your finger is clean and apply lube to it. Insert your finger into your third knuckle. Now take your inhale and on your exhale, do your kegel, squeeze and lift, front and back. A full-strength kegel squeezes all the way around your finger evenly and then pulls your finger up...
