Hello, and welcome to the 35th tutorial in the c++ programming series. And in this part, we'll be looking at function templates. An overloaded function, which we looked at previously, may take the same number of parameters and essentially perform the same task. But you might have a function that multiplies two numbers together, maybe print it out and maybe return it. But literally, the only difference is in is the type of number it takes. So it could be an integer could be a flow could be a double, and maybe return obviously, an integer, float or double.

This would be a prime example of what you would want a function template for you don't want is that literally have no connection to each other in terms of the sort of action they're performing. So we're just gonna show you how to implement template function and you'll see exactly what we mean by the ideal scenario. And we're gonna use the example of multicollinearity I'm going to be returning that number which we're going to be printed out. So instead of actually doing a float, and then internet function that will potentially perform the same functionality, okay, multiplication, we can just do, why don't you be a template from Sham double as well then. So what we'll do is calculate for you the key word template, you left them, and you type in the word class. And now you will type in what your class is going to be called the data type.

Then you put grid to them. Now you actually put your function stolen do data type, and then we're gonna put our function name so go tp keishon. And now what we can do is just see if the result of some multiplication will show different types of data. So what we'll do is mo is called multi location. And this takes two parameters. I was going to provide these five and six. Now remember, we get a result of 30.
