Lecture one who is an author and author is someone who thinks creatively loves writing, evokes imagination and educates people. His or her focus is to produce well crafted pieces of work for people to read, enjoy and share. Why become an author?

For this? I'll give you a quote by bird gardener, who is one of the authors of the chicken soup series of books. He says, when you speak your words echo only across the room or down the hall. But when you write your words will echo down the ages. Isn't this an amazing quote? Everyone has a unique story to tell.

When you become an author. You can also tell your story to the world. You can share your knowledge or message with the world. You can position yourself as an expert in your industry. You can stand out from your colleagues and get noticed. You can build your own brand and get speaking opportunities.

You can earn royalties from your book sales. You can keep your brain alive. You can change lives. You can unleash your fantasies you can have a lifelong hobby can become an inspiration And many more. Now let us come to the types of authors, fiction, someone who can write stories. Depending on the genre.

A fiction book is usually between 30,000 to 200,000 word. This needs planning, imagination, dedication and patience. Types of authors continued nonfiction, someone who can write in a specialized field like technical or academic subjects, this type of reading requests factor research checking. Some more types of authors, academicians, players, journalists, screenwriters, copywriters, and so on are also called authors. But in this course, we will only consider authors who write and publish full length books, fiction or nonfiction and not just articles. Three fears of first time authors.

The first fear is the belief that they will require some special brains or great talent, or some master's degree from a top university to indulge in such writing activities. The second fear is a scary imagination that their writings and ideas may be ridiculed by their friends, relatives and strangers. The third fear is the belief that it is mandatory to write thick, detailed or complex books with great flowery language like Shakespeare in order to be classified as an author. But don't worry, all these fears can be easily overcome. Overcoming the first fear the first fear can be overcome by not understanding that you don't need any ultra special brains. Master degree to become an author.

Actually anyone can become an author if they have some good knowledge and experience on any subject and some simple writing skills. Remember, you only need to be two to three steps ahead to quote someone. What is this two to three steps ahead principle. For this, I'll give you a couple of examples. A fifth standard student can easily coach a first standard student to do his or her homework. A third year degree student can coach a first year or a second or high school student.

How is this possible? Now this is because there are two to three steps ahead did their knowledge and wisdom you can use a similar principle to write your book to an audience who are two to three steps below in your knowledge and wisdom. Overcoming the second fear the second fear can be overcoming the understanding that becoming an author is a long journey. spending months and years, no one can become a seasoned author word night or within a few weeks. Hence, there is no need to announce to the world that you will become an author by a certain date. Nor is it mandatory to display your beginner writings to anyone.

You can keep your author aspiration and it's just a top secret until you're confident and comfortable with your own writing to show it to others. Or coming the third view, the third fear can be overcome by understanding that a majority of readers don't want the complex books. Instead, they prefer simple and concise books that can help them achieve what they want. Even if you write a 50 page book on some useful subject, you will still be called an author. So go ahead and boldly write your first sentence and don't let the three fears haunt you. The author journey.

Remember the journey of 1000 miles must begin with a single step Chinese proverb We now come to the end of lecture one, please proceed to lecture to the continue the course. Thanks for watching
