Hey, welcome back. And in this lecture, we'll be talking about some of the biggest and most deadliest productivity killers that we fall prey to every single day. Yep, we're talking about Netflix video games in TV. So without further ado, let's get into it. Okay, let's just head for the jugular right away by talking about netflix. 1 billion hours of Netflix is streamed every single week across all of Netflix is users.

This suggests that roughly each user is watching about 570 hours per year. What? What's even crazier and easier for us to fathom is the fact that this means each Netflix subscriber is watching 1.56 hours every single day, 365 days a year. Let that sink in for just a second. We only get 24 hours in a day. And we choose to sacrifice one and a half of those hours to Netflix.

Now, believe me, I'm all about Netflix, I love putting the feet up and getting carried away with a few episodes of The Walking Dead or house of cards or even some stranger things. But it gets to the point where you have to realize that you're wasting so much of your life away. And another productivity killer. That's next up is you know, good old television because it's very similar to Netflix, but usually attracts a different demographic of people. But nonetheless, it's even more of a problem than Netflix. On average, a single individual watches about 1850 hours worth of TV each year.

What that equates to five hours in four minutes a day. Please let that sink in. 21% of your day is given away to watching something on a box. That is absolutely insane to me. Again, everyone is different, but these stats have to make you want to take a step back and reevaluate your decisions. The last major silent but deadly productivity killer is personally a huge weakness of mine, which is video games.

Now, the stats aren't necessarily that alarming compared to the previous two because of how niche video games can be. Some people don't play any type of video game, while others play video games in their free time. And some people play it for a living. So while on average, someone spends 364 hours a year on video games, which you know equates to roughly one hour a day. That isn't necessarily true though. Most gamers I know spend two to three hours playing video games a day.

Take two to three hours in average that together with people who play zero hours a day, you end up getting a logical reason for the worldwide average. Now ultimately, the point I'm trying to get across is the fact that if you play video games, whether that's mobile apps, consoles, PC, etc, you're more than likely going to spend tons of time doing it. I guarantee it's even longer than you think. So I've been telling you how bad these things can be if we want to increase productivity. But what can we do to combat this? Well, it depends on what you're going for.

Personally, I'm all about getting the maximum amount of productivity out of my weekdays, but I like to enjoy my weekends as well. So personally, I use both of these techniques. But let's start with getting the absolute maximum amount of productivity out of your day. Netflix, video games and television are addicting. Trust me, I get it. So instead of just trying not to watch certain shows or movies, just cancel your subscription or services all together, or in case of video games.

Uninstaller them. I did this a little while back when I felt my productivity levels falling significantly, and I saw an instant boost on what I was able to accomplish, it was actually pretty insane. Now another technique to get the maximum amount of productivity would be to only watch movies. Now, this is interesting, but movies are typically two hours long. And once it's over, it's over. Bam.

That's it. But if you watch shows, you'll keep falling into the pit of death. I like to call. Oh, I'll just watch one more episode. Yeah, we all know shows are designed to leave you on a cliffhanger. So you come back and watch the next episode.

As for video games, try to play ones that allow you to stop and continue easily stay away from the multiplayer games, or you can just keep playing game after game after game. And again, it depends on what you're looking for in particular, but if you want to get the maximum amount of productivity out of your days, then utilize these techniques. Now if you just want a little more productivity out of your day, but Can't really live without Netflix, TV or video game goodies. Then I recommend setting a timer so you only watch or play games for two to three hours instead of all day. This will allow you to watch him play some goodies, but also stay a bit productive with your day. Another great technique, which requires a bit of self control, is just to wait until you finish all of your duties or whatever is on your checklist for that day.

Treat these distractions like a reward, get something done or reach a goal, then reward yourself with a little fortnight it's as easy as that. But again, First, you'll need to determine what specifically you're going for. Then all you have to do is carry out these techniques or maybe come up with some on your own. I will say it is easier said than done. And it requires a lot of discipline because we love these things so much. But that will pretty much wrap up this lecture on what the major productivity killers are that we deal with every day.

Our lives, it's ultimately up to you to make a difference in your life. I can only give you the tools and the knowledge for you to properly adjust the gears that steer your life in the right direction. I hope it helps and I can't wait to continue on with you in the next lecture. So I'll see you then.
