Welcome to ultimate drumming calm. I'm Joe McCall. I'm going to show you this really cool 12 eight beat first I'm going to play it for you. I'm going to break it down note by note and show you how it works. Oh 1-231-231-2312 weighing in the 12 time signature, you got to be counting the eighth note, there's going to be 12 eighth notes in a measure. Now I'm going to play the ride pattern on all the eighth notes.
So I'm going to be counting 12 eighth notes in a measure, it's going to go like this 1-234-567-8910 1112 13456789 1011. So 1245 678-910-1112 that counting up to 12 can be a real mouthful, especially when you get into the numbers that have more than one syllable. So a shortcut would be to count 123123123123. Of course, knowing that it's going to take four groupings of three to equal 12 123123123123 what And this 12 a pattern, the bass drum is going to go on beats one, beat three, beat 679 and beat number 12. Once again, it's going to go on beats 13679 and b 12. I'm going to coordinate it together with the ride pattern, nice and slow 1-234-567-8910 1112 1-234-567-8910 1112 1235 678-910-1112.
So if I'm counting in groups of three, the first grouping of three, the foot is on one in three Second grouping, the foot is going to be on three, third grouping one and three. Fourth grouping, the foot is going to be on three, we'd go like this 123 1-231-231-2312 312-312-3123 1-231-212-3123 like the previous beats before this one, snare drum is going to go on the number four and the number 10. Or if you're counting up to three, it's going to go on one of the second group, you know, three, and on one of the fourth grouping of three, I'm going to put it all together 1-234-567-8910 1112 5678 Once I get comfortable with that speed, I'm going to pick up the tempo a little bit. And remember, it's smart practice to try a couple measures with the ride pattern on the hi hat. A couple measures with the ride pattern on the ride cymbal.
It's gonna go like this 123456789 There you have it. Another excellent sounding 12 eight pattern you can add to your drumming library at ultimate drumming calm I'ma call. Thanks for watching. I'll see you soon at ultimate drumming.com
