With the preparation covered, let's now dive into the role analysis procedure. After the necessary context setting, begin the role analysis exercise by asking the business leader to share their transformation goals. Once the goals are up for viewing both the following questions to the group to capture the rule analysis framework. First, in order for your business unit to deliver to these transformation goals, which rules do you need? Let's the inputs provided by the group in the first column, and then ask them to categorize each rule as new or existing redefined rule in the second column. Next, for each rule, ask what are the key performance outcomes or key result areas?

Or in simpler terms, what are the key tasks that the rule would perform? Once the third column is populated, finally ask the group to identify Priority roles, priorities typically determined by a customer facing or delivery role. This input will be important while planning capability development efforts. And with this, you have completed an initial draft of the rule analysis framework. A few tips ensure that you seek inputs from each member in the group and capture final responses with group consensus. If there is any part that needs further inputs and discussion beyond the existing group pocket as an action to be taken up post the meeting, conclude the meeting within initial framework to be reviewed by the group offline for any gaps or further inputs.

Agree on a date when the group will provide a closure on any pending items. And finally, before you wrap schedule a second meeting to proceed into the competency mapping exercise for the finalized rules. Here's a quick example on a role analysis framework for a data analyst. Take a few minutes to absorb the details under each column to understand the framework better, do not do that the information provided here is only for the purpose of an example and may not be factually accurate. As a final checkpoint and before closing the role analysis exercise inform the group that this framework will be further mapped to skill and talent development requirements, and therefore they should verify for completeness on two aspects. First, all roles necessary for achieving these specific transformation goals are intuited second All performance outcomes or key tasks that need to be performed by every rule are captured in the framework.
