Welcome to this course on building your executive presence. I'm jack nicholson, many times CFO and co founder of executive finance partners. The transition from financial professional to financial executive requires you to let go of your focus on being a one person technical specialists. That's having the competency to build and maintain strong relationships is at the core of every great executive. As a financial executive, you will lead teams of financial professionals forcing you to let go of some of the technical detail. The people on your team were chosen in large part because of their technical skills.

They are assumed and expected to have these skills already. Your job as a leader is to develop your teammates as leaders. More broadly as a financial executive. You must position yourself and your finance function as a business partner across the organization and a trusted advisor to the executive team and the board of directors. Further still, it's imperative that you foster strong relationships with external financial stakeholders, including banks, investors, customers and suppliers. In this course, you are going to understand emotional and social intelligence to better understand all relationships in your life.

This will help you improve your understanding of reading body language to allow you to react to situations with more sensitivity. You will learn how to navigate office politics and we all want to know how to deal with those. First impressions are critically important, and new executives must instantly Express executive presence in order to have the impact they need. You'll learn how and after those first initial few seconds, how do you meet a new person and engage in meaningful conversation. Finally, let's work through a framework to help you proactively build personal and professional relationships. This is not a small undertaking, but it's crucial to your success as a financial executive.
