Hey, I want to talk to you right now about acknowledgment. You see at work or in life, most of the time, people make statements, they make contributions. They have ideas. And very often, we will say, yes, and then we just kind of Reel root over their statement without acknowledging it. So I really want to put in a strong plug for acknowledging contributions before you add your piece. acknowledge that someone had a good idea, acknowledge the value in their idea.
This is a profound question. vacation skill, super useful. And when people feel acknowledged, they actually have energy to give more, they want to do more, because they feel acknowledged. They feel like Okay, great. I did something I gave something, they feel valued. They feel valued in their offering, they feel valued in their contribution.
And the truth is at work and in on any team that you're on each player, each participant, each member is making a valuable contribution. Your contribution matters. So I'm going to say that, again, your contribution matters. So I want you to explore this. Practice this, first and foremost, practice it with yourself. Practice it with yourself values.
Yourself say, Yes, my contribution matters. And then because mindfulness involves feeling involves noticing, what does it feel like to acknowledge yourself? What happens in your body? When I say to myself like right now, my contribution matters. Then I can breathe. And I feel some warmth in my heart and a smile comes to my face.
So your contribution matters. Get that in yourself, and then get it on your team. Each person brings a valuable contribution. It might not be the idea that you end up running with that you end up using, and yet it's a valuable contribution. Every player on your team is making a valuable contribution. So if somebody says Hey, maybe we can do it this way.
Let's use this modality, let's use this methodology. Let's do it in this color this font, say yeah, great, great idea. I can see the value in that and let it land and then say, yeah, we can do it that way and we can also alter it this way. So acknowledgement, verbal acknowledgment coming from the recognition that every member on your team is valuable. It creates the alchemy, the momentum of your team is dependent on each player, actually feeling valued and getting that they are a valuable member of the team. So go for it.
Pump your team up with authentic acknowledgement, authentic acknowledgement coming from value Each and every person's contribution. Okay, practice.
