DESCRIPTION:
Looking at PERMA-H and the VIA strengths framework, it's clear to see that there is overlap and opportunities for synthesis. I read in one of the many positive psychology books, and believe I heard Martin Seligman say, that strengths can be seen as the backbone and the avenues for the elements of PERMA. Ryan Niemiec, in his book: Strengths-Based Workbook for Stress-Relief, adds the component of H for health, as he says that much research is now supporting the importance of physical and mental health to our overall well-being. Not so surprising, right?
Feel free to share in the comments and in your notes, the overlap as you see it. How are strengths related to the elements of PERMA-H? Which strengths do you think to correlate most to each?
In the second diagram, I incorporated the strengths that I think especially relate to each aspect of PERMA-H. This is clearly subjective so please, share which strengths can serve you in each area.
