DESCRIPTION:
Although there is a lot of literature about the role of stress and health, it is interesting to consider that it is our mindset about the stress that can impact our health. The concept of "challenge" stress vs. "threat" stress is interesting. Challenge stress means that you have or believe you have the resources necessary to address the stress where "threat" stress is where you are overwhelmed and overcome with stress because you don't believe you have the tools or you actually don't have adequate resources at the time. This article explains some of the differences.
Please check out this talk by Dr. Kelly McGonigal: How to Make Stress Your friend, and consider sharing with your faculty. Dr. McGonigal has been researching stress for over a decade and shares some fascinating facts.
What insights can you share or discuss with faculty?
