In a lot of the research on stress and burnout, teachers lose connection to meaning: the bigger picture.
There are 3 types of meaning that are important:

Coherence: making sense of life. Does what you are doing feel in line with your values and is it congruent with who you are and what you strive to be? Is your job allowing that?
Significance: feeling and seeing the value in what you do and who you are. Do you feel like you are valued and important?
Purpose: having direction, goals, and behaviors that are aligned with a greater purpose. Can you set goals and work toward a purpose?

It's important to think about opportunities for self- reflection where teachers can get in touch with their purpose, their significance and evaluate how they can have more coherence. The VIA strengths inventory is helpful in this regard as it helps connect to strengths and values: what is important in life overall.
