In this video, we're going to illustrate dot row and the dot column properties. So I've created a new macro here and use a procedure and I've named it row underscore column, we're actually going to illustrate the difference between the dot row and the column property. So let's say I'm just gonna write range a to dot row, okay? And I'm just gonna put that inside a message box. Okay? So put that inside a message box, and if I run my macro, what's gonna happen is that it's gonna give me the row number four, sell a two, this is sell a two, okay, I'm just gonna color in yellow.
So sell a two is actually in the second row. So this is why you produces the number two. Okay? Now if I change that and put it to be dot column, and I run the macro Well, it gives me the value of the column property for that cell. Cell a two is in the first column it's in, it's in the column A and column A is the first column. So this is why he produces the number one.
Okay, these are two simple properties, but they're very powerful. And you use them in your macros a lot. And they are very important to know. And they actually the dot row and column properties, they work just exactly the same as the row function in Excel. So if you give a cell to the row function, they will produce the row number so I've given it cell A to produce two. And also the column function, an Excel function is which is the column function if you give it the a cell, it will output the column number for that cell.
So I've given it cell a two, it's outputted, the column number which is one because cell A two is in the first call, okay? two simple properties, but they are very important to know. So thank you guys for watching. This video on please follow me on to the next one
