The win-at-all-cost mentality is easy to slip into. Let’s teach life skills that will set these kids up for success in life. Stay away from the win-at-all-cost mentality. What do you want? Do you want your kids to get accolades but not be prepared later in life?
It is more important to have a coach that stresses attitude and effort over results. They are comfortable holding kids accountable even it means losing a game to teach life lessons. It is always more fun to win, but against at what cost?
Every great player at any level is always on the intrinsic side of motivation, which helps them focus on winning. Focusing on the process is how growth occurs and it’s beneficial to set process goals. 
Losing a game can teach individuals how to handle and overcome adversity. Many kids are afraid to fail because they see themselves as a failure. Kids should be taught that failing at things is okay, but the key ingredient is learning and growing from their experiences.
