Too many parents view the success of their child in sports as related to their parenting skills.




A mindset you need to create is that your kid’s success or lack of success in sports doesn’t indicate what kind of parent you are.




Unfortunately, the ego can get in the way of making the best decisions for your child’s long-term development in sports.




Adopt the mindset of what I want for myself, I want for everyone else. Don’t let your ego get in the way as your child goes through the journey of youth sports.


Action Steps:


Understand that success in sports is nothing compared to success in life. Give credit to your child for being the person they are and continue to be humble. 




Avoid getting caught up in the results. Find out what's working and keep it the way it is. Some situations are best for your child and some situations are not.
