However, the majority of Americans believe that to be true, but the statistics tell a different story. The Wall Street Journal did a report in 2014 on the difference between academic and athletic scholarships at the college level. The results showed that there were 9.5 billion dollars allocated toward academic scholarships and 1.2 billion toward athletic scholarships. That comes out to 89% academic aid vs 11% athletic aid. If you or your child want to get a scholarship, then spend more time in the library. There are about 100 academic scholarships for one athletic scholarship. Think academics first.
